Citation Guidance: The provision of the preceding paragraph shall not apply to the cases where a Bank and/or its Subsidiary Companies, through exercise of security rights or by any other cause specified by a Cabinet Office Ordinance, comes to acquire or hold voting rights of a domestic company if the total number of the voting right held by the Bank and/or its Subsidiary Companies exceeds the Voting Right Holding Threshold; provided, however, that the Bank and/or the Subsidiary Companies shall not continue to hold the part of the voting rights which it came to acquire or hold in excess of the Voting Right Holding Threshold after one year from the day on which it came to acquire or hold the voting rights, except when the Bank has in advance obtained approval for holding such portion of the voting rights from the Prime Minister.
